Civil Protection recommendations for protection against the heatwave

The General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection on Monday again issued guidelines on how to protect against the oncoming heatwave, urging people to be cautious and adopt self-protection measures against the health risks posed by high temperatures.
The General Secretariat has informed all relevant state services, as well as regional and municipal authorities across the country, to be on heightened civil protection alert in order to respond immediately to the consequences of extreme heat.
In areas where high temperatures are forecasted, special attention is drawn to vulnerable groups, advising them to be extra cautious to avoid health issues such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
Specifically, based on the self-protection guidelines for high temperatures, citizens are advised to:
Stay in cool and shady areas, avoid crowded places, use air conditioners or fans, and avoid strenuous physical activity in hot, windless, and humid conditions.
Avoid sunbathing, walking, or running under the sun. They should wear hats, sunglasses, and light-colored clothing made from breathable fabrics that allow sweat to evaporate, avoiding synthetic materials.
Eat light meals, rich in fruits and vegetables, and limit fatty foods and large quantities of food.
Drink plenty of water and fruit juices, avoiding alcoholic beverages.
Special care is recommended for infants, young children, the elderly, and people with chronic illnesses, to ensure they are protected from high temperatures.
