Migrant boat with 34 on board intercepted south of Gavdos

Hellenic Coast Guard officers on Sunday intercepted and rescued 34 migrants found 25 nautical miles south of the island of Gavdos. They were responding to a tip reporting the migrant boat that was received early on Sunday morning, while its precise location was found with the help of a Frontex drone.
A rescue operation was launched to collect the migrants, who were all men and to transfer them safely to the harbour in Chora, Sfakia. From there, they are to be transferred to Aguia, Chania.
