The explosive device found early on Monday inside the grounds of Athens University campus contained, among others, nails and a quantity of explosives inside a tube.
The makeshift bomb, which had been hung from the University campus' railing, also had wires, a battery and a clock. The bomb squad, which tried to disable the device through a controlled explosion, are examining the reasons why it did not explode.

It was spotted by the local police station chief as he was parking his motorcycle near the campus perimeter wall.
