Greece, along with other countries, is co-signing a text to introduce rules regarding the age limit for children on the internet, Μinister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou said on Friday upon his arrival at the EU Telecommunications Council meeting in Luxembourg.
Papastergiou stated that today's EU Telecommunications Council in Luxembourg is "important" because it is discussing an issue "which Greece has raised very early on" and which concerns "the addiction of minors to the internet, violence and delinquency."
The Minister of Digital Governance stated that "today Greece is introducing a text which has been co-signed by Spain, France, Denmark, Slovenia and other states that will support it, in order for us, as the European Union, to insist on introducing rules regarding the age limit. To introduce rules into the mechanisms that will now officially confirm the child's age."
Papastergiou explained that "the goal is for each state to do whatever it thinks in relation to the limit but also how open or not the operating framework of the platforms will be."
