The inauguration of Aegean Airlines' direct flights between Santorini and Istanbul took place on Thursday at the island's airport in cooperation with Fraport Greece.
The chairman of AEGEAN’s Board of Directors Eftyhios Vassilakis, stressed that the new direct flight between Santorini and Istanbul with AEGEAN significantly enhances the island's connectivity, offering direct links to the steadily growing market of Turkey, as well as access to the large and important markets of Asia and Australia.
Vassilakis also noted that the new route is already recording satisfactory load factors and "as the season matures and develops, it will record even better results. Santorini is gradually returning to normality, and we are here with 10 daily flights to and from Athens, 1 daily flight to and from Thessaloniki, 3 daily flights to and from Rhodes and now with the flight to and from Istanbul".
