SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Sokratis Famellos on Monday stated that "The non-participation of Greece in the European meeting on Ukraine that will take place today in Paris, with the participation of France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Italy, Poland, Denmark and the leaders of the EU and NATO, is yet another proof that the policy of the "given ally" of the USA followed by the government in Ukraine also isolates the country and makes it instead of a "regulator of geopolitical developments", as Mr. Mitsotakis claims, to a simple observer of them".
"Unfortunately, despite our constant warnings, the government continued the country's non-transparent involvement in the Ukrainian conflict, sending heavy armaments without the mandated institutional briefing of the Parliament on whether the defence capabilities of the Greek islands are affected, instead of taking the lead in the efforts for peace", he noted underlining that "the result is for Greece to remain out of the discussions for the ending of the war in Ukraine".
"This is the second time during the Mitsotakis government, after the Berlin Conference on Libya, where the country has been excluded from the table of discussions on serious geopolitical issues, which directly affect us", Famellos underlined.
