Environment and Energy Minister Theodoros Skylakakis on Monday stressed that "the green transition with the simultaneous improvement of resilience is the great and extremely difficult wager of the next decades," opening the Green Deal 2024 conference organised by the Technical Chamber of Greece.
"The climate crisis arrived more violently than was expected based on the climate models," Skylakakis said . "We saw it in Greece and we see it now in Valencia and the funds to address this multiple challenge are limited, both in Greece and in the EU," he added.
Skylakakis said the priorities should be an emphasis on resilience, increasing the efficiency of activities and the way infrastructure is built, seriousness in dialogue and the technical competence offered by the Technical Chamber of Greece.
"It is the era of science, we will face the challenge with technology and with collective action and not with political froth," concluded the minister.
