The opening up of Greek public universities to the US, and more specifically the exploration of ways to cooperate with corresponding US institutions, is expected to be at the center of the Pharos 3.0 Summit on Wednesday, the third consecutive initiative between the two sides, which is part of the strategic framework of Greek-US cooperation in higher education.
In the framework of Pharos 3.0, according to Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) sources, 200 representatives of educational institutions and organisations from the USA that specialise in international education are expected in Athens.
The summit will take place on October 16, 2024 at College Year in Athens (CYA) and the proceedings will begin with speeches by Melissa Torres, President and CEO of The Forum on Education Abroad, Maria Olson, Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Athens, Heidi Manley, Head of USA Study Abroad of the US Department of State and Nikos Papaioannou, Secretary General of Higher Education of the Greek Ministry of Education.
There will be thematic panels, among other things, regarding the Education Abroad agencies as partners with respect to the internationalisation of education and good practices in the cooperation of US institutions with foreign institutions.
On Thursday October 17, 2024, Study in Greece - an association of Greek universities and a national body for their internationalisation and extroversion - has organised and will coordinate a round table discussion at the Athens Conservatory, where there will be a presentation of collaborations, joint programmes and good practices between US and Greek universities, entitled: "Fostering international partnerships to boost study abroad in Greece".
According to ANA-MPA sources, the focus will be on exploring partnerships and investment opportunities, regarding the establishment of short-term study programmes in Greece for people studying in US universities.
