Fossilised forests: evidence of the evolution of life on earth, examples from Lesvos and China

A conference on "Fossilised forests: evidence of the evolution of life on earth, examples from Lesvos and China" will take place on Sunday, July 15 at 7.30 pm at the premises of the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest in Sigri.

 Professor Qun Yang, President of the China Palaeontology Society and Director of the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences will speak at the event, as well as Professor Yongdong Wang, Secretary General of the Palaeontology Society of China. The event will be coordinated by Professor of the Department of Geography of the University of the Aegean, Nikos Zouros, the director of the Natural History Museum on Lesvos.

The lecture will take place in English and there will be translation into Greek.

It will present the latest research findings on the importance of fossil forests discovered in both Greece and China. At the same time, there will be a presentation of results enhancing understanding of the evolution of life on our planet, as well as the collaboration between the research teams of the Aegean University and the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest with the corresponding research teams of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Nanjing University.
