PM Mitsotakis meets with mayors and regional governor of Western Macedonia

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met on Wednesday at the Maximos Mansion with the mayors of the regional units of Western Macedonia and the regional governor, Giorgos Amanatidis.
During the meeting, they discussed the progress of the local development plans for each regional unit, the implementation of the Just Transition programme - through which nearly 1.03 billion euros is being directed to Western Macedonia - and the utilisation of EU funding (NSRF), which has increased by 34% compared to the previous programming period.
They also discussed infrastructure projects that will significantly improve access to the region, with a focus on the E65 motorway, additional initiatives for job creation beyond the already planned DYPA (Public Employment Service) programmes, as well as possibilities for providing further incentives to attract workers and businesses to the area.
Finally, the importance of major and emblematic investments taking place in Western Macedonia was emphasised-such as PPC’s (Public Power Corporation) project, which includes the development of a large data centre. It was highlighted that every major investment creates an ecosystem of supporting activities that broadly boost the local economy.
