Ministers visit firefighting helicopter crew at hospital after emergency water landing

Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Yiannis Kefalogiannis, with Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, paid a visit on Tuesday to the 'Attikon' Hospital and the three crew members of a firefighting helicopter that made an emergency landing at sea off the Elefsina port.

According to the Fire Department, a leased Erickson helicopter participating in the operation to put out a fire in Aspropyrgos made the emergency water landing while collecting water at Elefsina. The pilot and the two crew members (two Americans and one Greek) were rescued by a Coast Guard vessel and taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Kefalogiannis thanked the three and was briefed on the state of their health by the hospital administration and their doctor. He said the three, two pilots and an interpreter, would be shortly discharged from hospital as initial examination results did not show anything significant.
Georgiadis also thanked the three for their contributions and said that "the National Health System is present, as it is for all people."
