Kefalogianni: Italy has consistently remained a key market for Greece's tourism

Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni repeatedly highlighted the importance of the Italian market for Greek tourism in interviews to leading Italian media during her visit to Rome for the international forum "Bridging Destinations" on July 17-18, organised by the Italian Ministry of Tourism.
In statements to ANSA, ITALPRESS, Agenzia Nova, as well as to the radio station Radio Roma, she pointed out that Italy has consistently maintained its position as one of the key markets for Greek tourism, a fact that is also reflected in the official figures for 2024: more than two million Italians visited Greece, which corresponds to about 5% of all international arrivals.
Also noteworthy is the growing tendency of Italian visitors to choose Greece outside the peak months. In the period January - May 2024, arrivals from Italy recorded an increase of more than 60% compared to the same period in 2023, while in the last quarter of the year there was an increase of almost 20%. This momentum continued in 2025, with the first signals being particularly encouraging.
She said that after an extremely successful year for Greek tourism and the Italian market in particular, "we are moving forward with confidence and strengthening the ties of cooperation between our two countries."
Greece warmly welcomes Italian visitors all year round, offering authentic experiences, a rich cultural heritage and the famous Greek hospitality, Kefalogianni underlined.
