'Cruise Fee' goes into effect from Monday

Starting on Monday, July 21st, a new “ Cruise Fee” comes into effect, imposed on every passenger disembarking at a Greek port as part of a sightseeing trip on a professional recreational vessel, according to Article 42 of Law 4256/2014.
This fee has been established in favour of the State and aims to increase revenue from tourism activities.
The amount of the fee varies based on seasonality and destination:
High tourist season (June 1 - September 30):
20 euros for disembarkation on Mykonos and Santorini
5 euros for disembarkation at other Greek ports
Transitional period (April 1 - May 31 & October 1 - October 31):
12 euros for Mykonos and Santorini
3 euros for other ports
Low season (November 1 - March 31):
4 euros for Mykonos and Santorini
1 euros for other ports in the country
The fee is charged to the passenger; however, the responsibility for collecting and transferring it lies with the shipping agents and cruise companies, through an electronic process implemented by the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy.
