A strong ground and aerial fire fighting force was deployed to put out a wildfire burning forest in Geraki, Amaliada on Sunday. Two ground teams made up of 52 fire fighters of the 18th Forest Operations Unit and 18 fire fighting vehicles are operating at the scene, with three fire-fighting planes and a helicopter dropping water from above. Further assistance is being provided by local government digging machinery.
A 112 warning message was sent to the residents of Asteraiika, in the Ilida municipality in Ilia, instructing them to be on standby due to the fire in Geraki.
