Coast guard patrol boat carrying 247 rescued migrants arrives in Lavrio

A Hellenic Coast Guard offshore patrol vessel docked at the port of Lavrio on Sunday, transporting 247 migrants rescued in five separate search and rescue incidents in the sea south of Crete.
The operation was coordinated by the Greek Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) and is part of the systematic response to migration flows in the Aegean. According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, 170 of the rescued individuals are to be transferred to the closed Reception and Identification Center in Amygdaleza, Attica on Sunday.
The remaining 77 foreign nationals will temporarily remain at the port of Lavrio, where preliminary investigative procedures are being carried out by the relevant port authorities to clarify the circumstances of their rescue and any possible involvement of traffickers.
