Migration and asylum minister meets with German ambassador

Migration & Asylum Minister Thanos Plevris met on Thursday with German Ambassador to Athens Andreas Kindl.
During the cordial meeting, according to the ministry, Plevris briefed the ambassador extensively on all aspects of the new bill on illegal migration that was posted the same day for public consultation.
Plevris underlined that Greece's implementation of a strict migration policy will not simply help the country but also contribute actively to formulating a unified European response in the face of rising migration flows.
Kindl expressed Germany's strong interest in Greece's new political approach and underlined the importance of dialog and cooperation among EU member states, in order to manage joint challenges effectively.
Both sides agreed on the need to strengthen Greece and Germany's cooperation, especially in the sector of returning citizens of third countries without a residence permit, as well as in the continued exchanges in technical know-how and best practices.
