Tsoukalas: Gov't afraid of investigation, whitewashes ministers' responsibilities

The government's daily statements "sound like a theatrical revue," PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) spokesperson Kostas Tsoukalas said on Thursday, responding to criticism by government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis.

Tsoukalas accused the government of making 'deals' and 'betting' over the OPEKEPE farm subsidies case, among others by supporting ruling party inspectors, administrators, and trade unionists, and gifting former ministers Makis Voridis and Lefteris Avgenakis with a write-off and an amnesty, respectively, "throwing to the waste basket the European Prosecutor's case file."

"New Democracy is afraid of the investigation, is afraid of the preliminary investigation committee, and therefore shamelessly chooses to whitewash the criminal responsibilities of its ministers."
