Police arrested another eight inmates for possession of drugs and other contraband items during a second raid on Korydallos Prison, carried out on Thursday morning. The operation was carried out by the Drug Enforcement Sub-directorate of the Directorate for Combatting Organised Crime.
The operation also involved officers of the Greek counter-terrorism squad and a trained police dog, making use of tip-offs about inmates possessing drugs and weapons.
Raids on prison cells led to eight arrests and the discovery of 20 tablets of a pharmaceutical substance, a makeshift knife, three makeshift razors, five mobile phones, phone chargers, a smartwatch and a pair of handsfree headphones.
The seized items will be sent for forensic examination.
