Property Taxation Code passes in Parliament

The bill on Property Taxation Code passed in Parliament with the votes of ruling New Democracy on Wednesday, while all opposition parties rejected it.

Deputy National Economy & Finance Minister George Kotsiras said the new Code was a demand of society and businesses, offering legal certainty and a stable legal framework while improving transactions of citizens and businesses.

All opposition parties referred to inequalities, while Kotsiras responded that more tax cuts would follow and the codification would continue. He also spoke about the contribution of digitization in fighting tax evasion and improving relations between citizens and public administration, also noting that the opposition did not present a single costed proposal during the debate.
