Guilfoyle's candidacy as ambassador to Greece clears Senate Foreign Relations Committee, heads to final vote

The US Senate's Foreign Relations Committee approved the appointment of Kimberly Guilfoyle as ambassador to Athens on Wednesday.

Specifically, 13 Committee members approved it and 9 rejected it. In fact, ranking member on the Committee Jean Shaheen (D-New Hampshire) spoke warmly about Guilfoyle's candidacy and voted in its favor.

The next and final stage of ratifying her appointment is a Senate plenary vote.

(CORRECTION: The number of Senators rejecting the candidacy was erroneously reported as being 6. They were 9. The above story is corrected.)
