Mitsotakis on OPEKEPE: 'People care about how we will get the money back'

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis addressed a gathering of citizens in Karpenissi on Wednesday, during a tour of Evrytania, referring to the issues that have arisen with OPEKEPE, the Greek agency for the payment of EU agricultural assistance, and a corruption investigation that is underway.
"In this environment of great instability, the last thing we need is heightened polarisation, a mentality of eliminating our opponents, trying to throw our political rivals in jail, or fully criminalising the country’s political life... No. I don’t believe that’s what citizens expect from us. Regarding the issue of OPEKEPE - which, as you well know, is an open and longstanding wound - we were the first to say: ‘Let’s conduct an inquiry to examine all aspects of the matter.’ I believe that what ultimately matters most to the citizens is this: how we’re going to get the money back from the thieves."
