Theodorikakos: Development ministry's proposal to reduce bureaucracy is ready

The development ministry's proposal to reduce bureaucracy in business licensing is ready, said Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos on Tuesday, speaking at the 8th InvestGR Forum 2025.
“ Our priority is a new package to streamline licensing procedures for businesses and activities, especially in the industrial sector. Fewer steps are needed from the start; if possible, the process should be completed in one procedure, so that the investor deals with a single point of contact in the state. That is the best approach,” the minister said.
Referring to the development law, Theodorikakos emphasised that the ministry has met the timelines and announced the first three frameworks. Regarding requests to extend the deadline for submitting proposals, he mentioned that a meeting with market stakeholders will take place on Wednesday to jointly examine the issue. “ If we see that an extension is necessary, we will grant it now so that the market knows the rules of the game,” he added.
He also noted that, while 80% of the development law subsidies used to go to tourism, they have now been shared with industrial production. Moreover, in the field of strategic and flagship investments, investments totaling 2.5 billion euros have been approved in the past year, half of which are in the industrial sector.
