Hatzidakis outlines the government's priorities at 8th InvestGR Forum

Tax cuts, outward-looking policies, spatial planning, and reducing bureaucracy are the initiatives the government will focus on in the next six months, underlined Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, speaking on Tuesday at the 8th InvestGR Forum 2025.

"We have things to do. To achieve victories, we must fight battles, even if there are reactions," he said. "A first taste will come with the Prime Minister’s announcements at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). Depending on the available fiscal space, further tax cuts will be implemented, which have not yet been finalised," he added.

Hatzidakis said that these will be followed by:

- The new strategy for Greek exports, currently being prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "It will not be something theoretical but concrete interventions and targeted actions to strengthen exports and penetrate new countries that show potential," the deputy premier said.

- Special spatial planning frameworks for tourism, industry, and renewable energy sources. At the same time, local urban planning will be accelerated.

- The intervention by the Ministry of Development to further reduce bureaucracy for businesses by 25%.

“ These actions mark a shift from the ‘macro’ to the ‘micro’ level. Of course, we will not ignore the ‘macro’ issues because we want to protect the progress that has been made. Despite the impressive reduction as a percentage of GDP, public debt remains high, and we want by 2028, for the first time in many decades, for Greece not to be the country with the highest debt in the EU. Therefore, we will continue to combine fiscal prudence with growth,” emphasised Hatzidakis.
