The official reception of the French Consulate General in Thessaloniki took place on Monday night, marking the celebration of France’s National Day on July 14. The event was hosted at the Labattoir cultural venue, in the presence of members of parliament, diplomatic representatives, local authorities, as well as members of the French community, business people, academics, and friends of France.
In his speech, the French Consul General in Thessaloniki, Jean-Luc Lavaud, highlighted the ever-strengthening strategic partnership between France and Greece, emphasising the importance of their bilateral relationship not only in terms of defence and European policy, but also in the fields of culture, education, and business. He also announced important new services and facilitations for French citizens residing in northern Greece.
"The friendship between France and Greece is a deep, historical, and vibrant bond. Our bilateral relations have been steadily strengthening in recent years. On a military level, we will celebrate in September the fourth anniversary of our strategic partnership. Our countries also cooperate closely on key European issues," emphasised the French Consul General.
He praised the commitment and contribution of the Hellenic-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Foreign Trade Advisors, French Tech, and the Business France office for their role in "enhancing the ties between France and Greece."
