Fire breaks out in Evia

A fire broke out at noon in a rural area near Aliveri in Evia, prompting the immediate mobilization of the Fire Department.
According to initial information, the fire broke out in an area with olive trees, while the risk of spreading to residential areas raised an alarm to the Authorities, as there are houses in the wider area that may be threatened.
Strong firefighting forces are operating at the site, with 33 firefighters, ten vehicles, two helicopters and two aircraft, as well as machinery and tankers from the Local Authorities and the Region of Central Greece.
A little earlier, a warning message was sent via 112 to residents and vacationers in the area calling them to remain on alert and follow the instructions of the Authorities.
Αnother message was sent to residents of the Pontikos area asking them to move towards Karavos.
