Mitsotakis: Greece will not allow the establishment of a new illegal entry route

In the weekly report on the government's work, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred to the migration issue, which, as he stated, has returned as an emergency suffocating situation, on our southern maritime borders.
"Our message is clear: Greece will not allow a new illegal entry route to be established in the country and in Europe. As we did in Evros in 2020, we will do again whatever it takes to stop them," he emphasized.
"We are taking emergency measures with the aim of closing the route from North Africa. And in this context, we call on Libya to cooperate, after all, the neighboring country's relationship with the European Union passes through Greece. Our stance is strict, but absolutely legal and justified. I know that many citizens feel upset and anxious. I can understand their feelings. I do not hide behind numbers or statements. "The pressure is real, and our answer is clear: Greece will not turn into an unguarded place," the prime minister added.
He also referred to the report of the European Commission for the Rule of Law, which confirms, as he noted, Greece's steady progress in the areas of justice, transparency, media freedom and the overall functioning of the institutions.
"Our country is one of the 12 member states that made progress on all recommendations and among the 15 with the fewest recommendations - together with Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal," he noted.
