Zacharaki: Government to intensify support for public Universities

The Minister of Education and Religious Affairs Sofia Zacharaki spoke on Friday at the 109th Rectors' Conference, held under the presidency of Panteion University.
She stressed that the government supports the public university and presented the main aspects of the draft law of the Education Ministry, which is already in public consultation.

"The government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis confirms its determination to continue to support Greek universities even more intensively and purposefully, with strategic investments, institutional initiatives and open dialogue, to enhance their quality, competitiveness and offer to society," Zacharaki said and stressed that the government also takes initiatives on the safety and security of the university community. She also referred to the increase in funding to universities, pointing out that from 2019 to date it has reached 28%.

"In total, for 2021-2025, the funding for Greek universities will reach 1.5 billion euros," Zacharaki said.
