Counterterrorism investigation continues over bomb found at journalist's house

The Counterterrorism Service is investigating the explosive mechanism found at the yard of journalist Yiannis Pretenteris' home on Thursday, but had no leads yet on Friday as to the identity of the perpetrators.

The latter seemed to know the house layout very well because police officers affiliated with the investigation said that the place they threw the explosives over the wall is an open space full of plants, without cameras. The mechanism consisted of five dynamite sticks, a detonator and a slow-burning fuse, all placed in a plastic bag.

The fuse showed signs of burning, which is assumed went out because of the wet lawn, was separated from the explosive when it hit the ground, or the material was old, bomb experts said. The bag was discovered by the gardener, who handed it over to the police guard on Thursday afternoon.

As laboratory work progresses, police is looking into an antiestablishment site with postings targeting Pretenteris and other indicivudals, while they are collecting material from cameras in the neighborhood.
