Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis unequivocally condemned the discovery of an explosive mechanism at the courtyard of well-known Greek journalist Yiannis Pretenteris in a post on Thursday.

Following the discovery, the government spokesperson said, "We unequivocally condemn the attack at the home of journalist Yiannis Pretenteris. Democracy cannot be intimidated. The freedom of journalists' opinion is non-negotiable. We have absolute confidence in relevant authorities that they will identify the criminals and lead them before justice. 

"Finally, we hope that self-evident condemnation statements are accompanied by a sincere intention to restrict the toxicity that is unfortunately spreading in public discourse, especially as of late."
