Greece co-hosting 5th Industrial Carbon Management Forum in Athens Dec 8-9, 2025

The 5th Industrial Carbon Management (ICM) Forum will be held in Athens on December 8-9, 2025 jointly organized by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER) and the Hellenic Hydrocarbons and Energy Resources Management Company (HEREMA).

The event is under the auspices of the Environment & Energy Ministry.

ICM Forum brings together brings together stakeholders from industry, EU countries, EU institutions, NGOs, academia and others to discuss how to make the deployment of industrial carbon management projects a reality in Europe. It also focuses on furthering the development of the Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) sector. The Europoean Commission has set very high targets for the geological storate capacity of carbon dioxide (CO2): 50 million tons per year until 2030, and 250 tons per year by 2040.

"This event reveals the dynamism and progress Greece has made in this critical and absolutely necessary energy sector, both to ameliorate climate change repercussions, as well as to secure the Greek industry's competitiveness. I am very proud of HEREMA's contribution to the CCUS sector's development and for the recognition of our actions, which is expressed inter alia with such honorary assignments," said HEREMA CEO Aristofanis Stefatos.
