A wildfire is raging in an agroforestry area in the Lake Doirani region, near the border with North Macedonia. The fire broke out on Wednesday, and around 4 pm, it spread toward Greece. Fire brigades, which were already on alert, were immediately mobilised. The firefighting effort involves 60 firefighters with 17 vehicles, three forest commando teams, two aircraft and a helicopter.
An emergency message via 112 issued, around 6:30am, urging residents in the areas of Kavalari and Mouries, Kilkis, to evacuate via the Kilkis-Serres main road toward Drosato.
