Androulakis: 'My aim is to get rid of New Democracy and this policy that keeps society down'

The only way to bring about political change and ensure that New Democracy is no longer in government is for main opposition PASOK-Movement for Change to come first in the elections, main opposition leader Nikos Androulakis said on Wednesday in an interview with Open television.
"If PASOK is not first, New Democracy will remain in government. There is no other party with a structured programme for government with an ideological framework," he said, adding that his aim is not to "provide a lifeline" for those that had failed but "to get rid of New Democracy and this policy that keeps society down."
Commenting on the refusal by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar to let a European delegation into Benghazi, Androulakis noted that this was "a defeat of the government as regards the Turkish-Libyan memorandum and a defeat of Europe with respect to the refugee/migration issue."
He stressed the need to protect Crete, a flagship of Greece's tourism, from being impacted by migration flows from Libya, which he said were being used as a lever to blackmail Greece.
Androulakis also stressed the need to keep Turkiye out of European armament programmes, outlined PASOK proposals for secondary school education and announced that PASOK's Parliamentary Group will submit a proposal for a parliamentary preliminary investigation into the OPEKEPE corruption case and the two ministers mentioned in the case file. He spoke of a "criminal organisation" stealing money and setting up a clientelist state with the protection of ND ministers and addressed ND grassroots voters, saying: "You deserve better".
