Financial Crime Unit raids OPEKEPE offices in hunt for evidence

The Financial Crime Unit of the Hellenic Police on Wednesday carried out a raid on the Athens headquarters of OPEKEPE, the Greek authority for the payment of EU agricultural aid, at the orders of a public prosecutor.
The unit, which is part of the Directorate Against Organised Crime, has been asked to sift through all the evidence in order to collect proof of fraud, forgeries and other crimes involving illegal subsidies. A police team has already proceeded to seize documents and other evidence, including digital evidence, and is therefore being assisted by a team for the Forensic Investigations Directorate.
