Extreme risk of fire in Attica, Viotia, Fthiotida, Corinth and Magnesia on Wednesday

The Fire Risk Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection for Wednesday predicts an Extreme Fire Risk - State of Alert (Category 5) in Attica, Viotia, Fthiotida, Corinth and Magnesia, as well as Very High Fire Risk (Category 4) or High Fire Risk in many other parts of Greece.
The regions and regional units where a Category 5 Extreme Fire Risk - State of Alert is forecast include:
- Attica (except the island of Kythera)
- Central Greece (regional units of Viotia, Fthiotida)
- Peloponnese (regional unit of Corinth)
- Thessaly (regional unit of Magnesia except the Sporades islands)
Very High Fire Risk (Category 4) is forecast in the following regions:
- Peloponnese
- Attica (Island of Kythera)
- Western Greece
- Ionian Islands
- Crete (regional unit of Chania)
- Central Greece (regional units of Evia including Skyros, Fokida)
- Thessaly (regional units of Magnesia, including Sporades islands, Larisa, Trikala)
- Central Macedonia
- Western Macedonia (regional unit of Kozani)
- Eastern Macedonia-Thrace (regional units of Rodopi, Evros)
All state services and local authorities have been advised to be on high alert to deal with any fires that break out while members of the public are advised to avoid any work or outdoor activity that may accidentally start a fire.
