Fire department collects suspect envelope sent to Parliament

The fire department has completed an operation to pick up a suspect envelope sent to the Hellenic Parliament on Tuesday. The envelope was picked up from the grounds outside the Parliament, following a special protocol, packaged and sealed and then handed to the police.
The police then delivered the package to National Organisation for Public Health (EODY), in accordance with procedure, so that it can be tested to determine whether it contained anything dangerous or suspect.
According to police sources, the envelope was considered suspect by Parliament employees because it was addressed to the prime minister and sent from Russia.
A team of 12 fireighters from the First Special Unit for Dealing with Disasters (EMAK) and four vehicles operated at the scene.
