Risk Assessment Committee convenes ahead of Wednesday's hot and windy weather

General Secretary for Civil Protection Nikos Papaefstathiou on Tuesday convened the Risk Assessment Committee, due to the stronger winds ongoing high temperatures expected across Greece on Wednesday.
According to the Committee's experts, maximum temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday in the eastern mainland will reach 39-40 ° C, and locally up to 41 ° C. A significant drop in temperature is expected on Thursday.
Also, starting at midday on Wednesday, winds will start picking up, with strong westerly winds expected in central and southern mainland Greece, while very strong northwesterly winds will prevail from Wednesday afternoon in the Ionian Sea and western mainland and from early evening in western and central Macedonia, Thessaly, and the Sporades.
Very strong northeasterly winds will continue from Wednesday night into Thursday in Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and the northeastern Aegean.
