Anniversary finds him 'greyer' but more experienced and equally determined, Mitsotakis says

In a video message posted on social media to mark the sixth anniversary since he was first sworn into office on July 8, 2019, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said he was older but certainly more experienced and equally determined to honour the voters' trust.
"I see this photograph from the first time I was sworn in, exactly six years ago. The hair may have gone grey but I am certainly more experienced and also equally determined to honour the trust you have placed in me.
"Exactly six years ago on July 8, 2019 you entrusted me with the position of prime minister of Greece. Every day that I enter this office, I remember how grateful I am to you and how heavy is the responsibility of living up to this honour," he said.
A lot had changed since that time, Mitsotakis pointed out, with the world becoming more unstable, more dangerous and experiencing unprecedented crises, but Greece had become better.
"Our economy is growing strongly. Half a million new jobs have been created. Our children no longer leave the country but return to Greece. Our Armed Forces are constantly becoming stronger. The revenue from growth and from fighting tax evasion becomes support measures for those that need them most. The digitalisation of the state improves our daily lives. And we will do even more. In my mind and heart there are always the expectations, the exhortations and the hopes of many people I have met on this journey," Mitsotakis added.
"I know that many things still need to change in our country and I will continue to fight for this. I draw strength from the moments when all Greeks felt proud, from the international recognition of the progress that we have made. Also, however, I always remember the difficult moments, the tragedies that filled us with pain, the crises that tested us. I do not avoid responsibility, I am always here, trying for the best. This is the goal that I will continue to serve with all my strength: A Greece that is stronger, fairer, more modern and a better life for every Greek woman and man. And we will achieve this, steadily, step by step," the prime minister concluded.
