In an operation coordinated by the Joint Search and Rescue Centre, Greek authorities on Monday rescued roughly 230 foreign nationals found at sea, in two overloaded boats south of the island of Gavdos near Crete.
The operation was launched after the boats were spotted by a Frontex vessel.
The rescued foreign nationals were taken safely to the harbour of Paleochora.
