The political office of Deputy Health Minister Dimitris Vartzopoulos on Monday became the target of an attack by unknown individuals, who daubed messages against a draft bill on mental health on the wall using black paint and threw flyers in the corridor outside his office before departing.
According to a social media post by the anarchist collective Rouvikonas, the attack was carried out by its members, who went up to the second storey of the building where Vartzopoulos' office is located but did not ring the bell or attempt to go inside. The deputy minister was not there at the time.
The ruling New Democracy party, in an announcement, called the attack "yet another fascist action by cowardly thugs" and stressed that the party and its MPs "cannot be frightened or intimidated".
"Our democracy is much more powerful than their attacks," the announcement concluded.
