Eight-month rally of 35.10% at Athens Stock Exchange Nov 2024-June 2025

The Athens Stock Exchange completed 8 months of gains, an unprecedented record for stock exchange history, with a series of positive returns, positive gains, and an increase in transactions.
From November 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, the general index of the market registered 35.10% in total gains, while the bank index ended the 8 months with gains of 68.41%. The market's total capitalization increased by 20 billion euros in the same period.
During those 8 months, the Large Cap index gained 40.49% and the Mid Cap index ended 23.16% higher.
The Stock Exchange is continuing its rising trend in 2025, with the general index at April 2010 levels, the bank index returning to 2015 levels, the Large Cap index to 2011 levels, and the Mid Cap index to 2010 levels. In the last positive years, the Greek stock exchange was among the top-5 in global markets, while in 2025 it is in the second place globally following the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
The capitalization of the stock market has returned by 19% since the start of 2025, having returned to levels of September 2008, or pro-crisis levels.
High-performing stocks
Meanwhile, the presence of foreign investors in the Greek market continues to be strong, with a share of 68.1% in capitalization and 61.5% in transactions, while in 2025 they are buyers with inflows of 387 million euros and 1.384 million euros during 2022-2025.
The Large Cap shares with the highest returns between November 2024 and June 2025 were recorded in the following shares:
Alpha Bank (116.67%), Piraeus Bank (71.09%), Piraeus Port (62.93%), Optima (56.25%), Eurobank (54.29%), National Bank (50.84%), Cyprus Bank (48.46%), Mytilineos (43.54%), Elvalhalcor (42.82%) and Coca Cola HBC (31.21%). Lower gains were recorded in the following: Athens International Airport (25.80%), OPAP (22.77%), Aegean Airlines (22.43%), Motor Oil (20.47%), Sarantis (19.78%), Jumbo (19.59%), Helleniq Energy (19.28%), Titan (17.07%), GEK Terna (15.84%), PPC (15.02%), Viohalco (9.90%), Aktor (9.80%) and OTE (6.39%).
Only Lamda Development showed a loss (-14,86%), while Athens Water remained unchanged.
