Fire at coastal town of Alyki Thivon stops at courtyards, as firefighters battle rekindlings

A large fire raging at the coastal area of Alykes Thivon, at the Corinthian Gulf, resulted in two warnings through the emergency number 112 on Saturday, with flames reaching courtyards but averted from burning houses.
The second message of 112 called on residents to evacuate toward Aghios Nikolaos, while Deputy Regional Governor of Viotia Giorgos Dasiotis said to media that "the situation is under control, however we are dealing with constant rekindlings." An order for the Port Authority to send boats on standby at the shore in case of evacuation by sea has been cancelled, Dasiotis said, as unnecessary.
Thebes Mayor Giorgos Anastasiou told Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) that "the worst was averted." Anastasiou, who is at the site, said that the immediate response by firefighters and the low wind velocity as well as wind direction direction averted disaster.
The Fire Department has dispatched 62 firefighters with 18 fire trucks and 3 ground teams. In addition, 4 airplanes and 2 helicopters are helping by air, while local machinery and water trucks alond with volunteers are helping in the firefighting efforts.
