Wildfire breaks out in Rafina; 112 message to residents in Agia Kyriaki, Etos Steko and Imero Pefko

A wildfire burning low vegetation started on Thursday afternoon at the junction of Marathon Avenue and Arionos Street in the seaside town of Rafina. According to the fire department, the fire was reported at 15:02 in a location near houses. A force of 90 fire fighters that includes six ground teams, 15 fire trucks and volunteers has been deployed to extinguish the flames, assisted by two airplanes and three helicopters and with support from local authority water trucks.
A warning message to evacuate was sent via the 112 emergency number to people in the vicinity of the districts Agia Kyriaki, Etos Steko and Imero Pefko, instructing them to make their way to the Artemida football field.
Due to a fire in low vegetation in Rafina, police have halted traffic on Marathonos Avenue in both directions. Traffic has been halted from the junction with Al. Fleming Street in the direction of Athens, and from the junction of Marathonos with Ag. Dimitriou Street in the direction of Marathon.
