Famellos: OPEKEPE a 'scandal of immense proportions'

Opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance President Sokratis Famellos commented on the latest revelations regarding the OPEKEPE affair, while addressing Parliament on Wednesday, noting that it was "a scandal of immense proportions".
"The OPEKEPE corruption scandal involving agricultural subsidies and the misappropriation of tens if not hundreds of millions of euros that were withheld from the countryside, from the country's farmers, are clearly a scandal tied to [Prime Minister] Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as the case file of the European Public Prosecutor's Office confirms," he said.
He noted that there was more to come, as other cases involving the projects financed by the Recovery Fund were still pending at the European public prosecutor's office.
According to Famellos, the prime minister had not only failed to govern with "honesty and good management" but actually succeeded in "building a clientelist state of transactions, corruption, graft, partisan favours and deep rot," reminiscent of the worst practices of the past.=
