Gerapetritis and Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi focus on Middle East developments

Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis on Wednesday spoke on the phone with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, focusing on recent developments in the wider Middle East.
"The Greek minister stressed that sustainable solutions to regional security challenges can only be achieved through diplomacy and a negotiated agreement. He also stressed the importance of full compliance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons as a crucial step in preventing the spread of nuclear weapons," according to a post by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on X (former Twitter).
Gerapetritis also pointed out that maritime security must be safeguarded for global peace and prosperity.
Finally, he stressed the need to ensure the safety of the Greek community and the staff of the Greek embassy in Tehran, which is still in operation.
