"As of today, government ministers are correcting their narrative, apparently because the confession of failure will not be consistent with Parliamentary investigation committees that 'whitewash' the criminal responsibilities of the New Democracy ministers, which they are orchestrating," main opposition PASOK-Movement for Change said on Tuesday in a commentary entitled "The hypocritical performance of 'we failed' has come to an end."

PASOK pointed out that "a fine of half a billion, corresponding to 78% of all fines imposed in throughout the EU, has only happened during the government of New Democracy and Kyriakos Mitsotakis."

"Gentlemen of New Democracy, unfortunately... the European Public Prosecutor's Office caught you red-handed," PASOK concluded.
