Marinakis: OPEKEPE remains problematic but government was 'anything but inactive'

The situation in OPEKEPE is problematic, with many challenges remaining even after six years of governance by New Democracy (ND), government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis said in an interview with Real FM on Monday.

Despite the efforts, many issues, such as corruption and illegal activity in public systems, have been revealed and addressed to a large extent, Marinakis noted, emphasising that significant steps have been taken in the right direction.

However, he added that the end goal has not yet been achieved and the results so far do not fully meet expectations.

Marinakis also said that the government has acted decisively against various problems of the public sector, despite the political cost, and that there have been significant successes in identifying rings and returning money to the public sector.
