Stasinos (ΤΕΕ) on digital transformation: We must simplify procedures and not digitise bureaucracy

"Digitalisation is useful and creates great benefits for everyone. Anything done digitally creates legal certainty for us, while at the same time eliminating bureaucracy and corruption. However, in order for digitalisation to succeed and for us to carry out the actions that are done faster and without corruption, we must simultaneously simplify procedures and legislation and not digitise bureaucracy," the president of the Technical Chamber of Greece (ΤΕΕ), Giorgos Stassinos, said on Monday in his opening speech at the conference held at the Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation.

Stassinos underlined: "The Technical Chamber of Greece, with digital systems that offer transparency, legal certainty and speed to the work of engineers, to citizens' affairs, to investors' choices and to public administration decisions, functions as a hub of technology and innovation. And at the same time, it paves the way for the modernisation of the state and the economy and for the real development of the country."

In addition, as a priority, he stated that a "battle" must be waged in order to allocate resources for the maintenance of the country's infrastructure.

Highlighting the multidimensional role of digitalisation, the president of the TEE focused particularly on the benefits for the environment, explaining that there is no longer the need to travel to issue a certificate or a permit and pointed out the contribution of the TEE's digital projects to the green transition and resilience.

"From the digital systems of the TEE and the work of engineers, we have strong environmental protection in practice and not in words," he said and noted: "We are creating possibilities for the resilience of buildings and infrastructure from natural disasters, which have never before existed in the country."
