Fire breaks out in low brush area in Argithea, Peania area

A low-brush fire broke out on Friday in the vicinity of Argithea, in the Peania region of eastern Attica. 

According to the Fire Department, the fire broke out around 18:30 near a village. A total of 50 firefighters are involved in trying to put it out, with 2 'forest commando' units, 15 fire trucks and volunteers, 2 airplanes and 4 helicopters.

Residents of Boura Papangelaki village in the Peania area received a warning through the 112 emergency messaging service to be on alert and follow directions of authorities, in case they need to evacuate.
