Regional Governor of Attica Nikos Hardalias is at the Civil Protection Operations Center to be briefed about the progress of the large fire that broke out in Thymari of Anavyssos. The fire is further south of a large fire at Palea Fokea, along the same coast line.

According to a related announcement, the governor has set the entire Civil Protection mechanism in Attica on standby on the field from the start, to assist the work of the Fire department, under the operational plan of the Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry.

The region has contributed 10 water trucks and a large-earth machine, Hardalias said. "Although Attica was not included in today's zones at high risk for fires, our services acted immediately and in a coordinated manner, contributing effectively to the tough work of our firefighters." Himself and related regional governors as well as Civil Protection officers "are and will be on constant vigilance," the Attica governor said. In addition, the region will contribute to efforts to rescue people trapped by fires.
