PASOK - Movement for Change leader Nikos Androulakis met with the president of the Socialists and Democrats Eurogroup Iratxe García Pérez, in Brussels on Wednesday.

Androulakis stressed that he and García Pérez are united not only by shared struggles in the European Parliament, but also by common values in support of a Europe of solidarity, social justice, and a unified foreign policy amid major challenges in the broader geopolitical region. 
"I want to thank her for supporting PASOK's proposal to discuss the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine at Mount Sina issue in the Plenary of the European Parliament. Issue that was not supported by the European People's Party, in which New Democracy is participating. And not only did they not support our request, but a few days later they voted for Egypt to receive 4 billion euros in aid without any preconditions, which will ensure the viability of a historic monastery for our Orthodoxy," Androulakis said.
